TRITON JOINT NEWSLETTER MARCH, 2007

Shipmates make preparations to get underway, the site selection and initial planning is complete for another great reunion.  Are you ready?  Start making plans now to attend our 2008 Joint SSN586/SS201 Reunion at Charleston, South Carolina.
Harold Weston and I (Henry Jackson) and our wives were graciously hosted by Cal and Joyce Cochrane during our February visit.  We acquired preliminary information from the Charleston Convention Bureau and contacted suitable hotels in the historic area as to availabilities in the fall 2008 time frame.  We focused on the historic area to facilitate convenience to the many attractions in this area (this was a major point discussed in our 2006 Business Meeting).
We sure hope that you are as EXCITED as we are!  The Embassy Suites is a “Landmark of Luxury”, and is a Historic Charleston Landmark in that it is one of the original Citadel Buildings that has been totally redone and is now a lovely hotel.

The following is a brief overview of the REUNION:

REUNION DATES: SEPTEMBER 3-7, 2008 (WED - SUN).  We had to negotiate on dates to receive what we consider a reasonable price package for the reunion.  The reunion host hotel is:

EMBASSY SUITES HOTEL, 337 MEETING STREET, CHARLESTON, SC 29403 Phone: 843-723-6900 Web Site: http://www.embassysuites.com    Embassey Suite Flyers

SUITES:  We reserved a block of 75 rooms (Single & Double) at a rate of $139.00 + 12.5% local taxes and fees.  These rates are offered, based on availability, 2 days before and 2 days after reunion.  This includes a free full breakfast and free cocktail hour in the afternoon.  Reservations:  Phone: 843-723-6900 Fax: 843-723-6938 E-mail: Reservations@charleston-hotels.net

PLEASE NOTE:  A typical suite in this hotel can be up $269.00 per night.  Please make your plans early and let me (Henry Jackson) know as soon as possible, in case we need to extend our block of rooms.  Our confirmation agreement requires a 90% guarantee.  If our block-of-rooms are not reserved by JUNE 1, 2008, we will release the remaining rooms.  CUTOFF DATE FOR OUR REUNION RESERVATIONS IS MAY 31, 2008
